അതിജീവനത്തതിനായി പ്രവാസജീവിതത്തിലേക്ക് കടന്നുവന്ന ഒരു മലയാളി കൂടി അമേരിക്കയിൽ അകാലചരമം പ്രാപിച്ചു. വർക്കലയിൽ നിന്നും കണക്ടികറ്റിലേക്ക് കുടിയേറിയ ശശിധരൻ പൊന്നൻ മെയ് പത്താം തീയതി ശ്വാസകോശ അർബുദത്തെ തുടർന്ന് ഈ ലോകത്തോട് വിടപറഞ്ഞു. പരേതൻ ഇരുപത്തിയഞ്ച് വർഷങ്ങളായി കുടുംബസമേതം അമേരിക്കയിൽ സ്ഥിരതാമസമായിരുന്നു. മലയാളി അസോസിയേഷൻ ഓഫ് സതേൺ കണക്ടികറ്റിന്റെ (മാസ്കോൺ) സന്തത സഹചാരികൂടിയായിരുന്നു. ഹിന്ദു ട്രഡീഷൻ അനുസരിച്ചുള്ള ശവസംസ്കാരച്ചടങ്ങുകൾ പതിനാറാം തീയതി ശനിയാഴ്ച രാവിലെ ഒൻപത് മണിയ്ക്ക്, ബെർലിൻ സിറ്റിയിലെ ലാഡി ഫ്യൂണറൽ ഹോമിൽ വെച്ചു നടത്തെപ്പെടുവാൻ തീരുമാനിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.

ഭാര്യയും രണ്ടു കുട്ടികളുമടങ്ങുന്ന ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിൻറെ കുടുംബത്തിന്, പെട്ടെന്നുള്ള ഈ വേർപാട് വലിയ ഒരു ബാധ്യതയായിട്ടുണ്ട്. സന്തപ്ത കുടുംബത്തിന്റെ ദുഃഖത്തിൽ പങ്കുചേരുന്നതോടൊപ്പം, ഈ കുടുംബത്തിന് വേണ്ടതായ എല്ലാ സഹായങ്ങളും വാഗ്ദാനം ചെയ്യുന്നതായി മലയാളി അസോസിയേഷൻ ഓഫ് സതേൺ കണക്ടികറ്റിന്റെ (മാസ്കോൺ) പ്രസിഡന്റും, ഫോമാ നാഷണൽ കമ്മറ്റി മെമ്പറുമായ (ന്യൂ ഇംഗ്ലണ്ട് റീജിയൻ) സുജനൻ തണ്ടേൽ പുത്തൻപുരയിൽ അനുശോചന സന്ദേശത്തിൽ അറിയിച്ചു.

We are devastated by the unexpected demise of Sasidharan Ponnan (60 yrs.) on May 10th ,2020 at Yale New Heaven hospital after a battle with recently diagnosed end stage Lung Cancer.
He is survived by his wife Prasanna and two children. He was a wonderful husband and a loving father to his children.
Originally from Varkala, Kerala, India; he emigrated to Connecticut, USA almost 25 yrs. ago to start a new life and was employed locally. Both husband and wife worked at the same company at different shifts to support the family. Sasidharan was loved by everyone who knew him and will be terribly missed.
His sudden illness and treatment has put the family in a dire situation and with the loss of life, the family has nowhere to turn to other than the community for upcoming funeral, memorial service, medical bills, kids education and temporary on rent cost
Most members of MASCONN (Malayalee association of southern Connecticut) community know him as Sasichettan who always showed his presence in every Onam and Christmas celebration in the past 10 yrs. He always attended the MASCONN events enthusiastically and encouraged his children to embrace Indian heritage and culture.
At this time as a community, we would like to support his wife and their children in the best possible manner during this difficult time. His family is still coming to grips with his passing and they do not have much financial help in the US.
